Detailing Towing Capacity and Performance

The 2020 Toyota Tundra is one of those rare pick-ups that improves with age. This dependable pick-up continually evolves, adding technology and modern driver-assisted safety systems that not only keep occupants safe, but improves the driving experience.

One item that hasn’t changed much is the impeccable towing capacity and performance features – that allows you to haul more than 10,000 pounds with ease.

The 2020 Toyota Tundra offers 20 unique configurations. There are six trim levels for 2020 including: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro. The primary consideration that impacts towing and payload capacity is the cab, drivetrain (4×2 or 4×4) and bed length.

Performance Features of the 2020 Toyota Tundra

Toyota keeps the engine options simple. Across the line-up is a 5.7-liter Aluminum i-Force V8 with DOHC 32-Valve cylinder heads and an Acoustic Control Induction System (ACIS). This engine pushes 381 horsepower and 401 lb.-ft of torque through a six-speed Electronically Controlled automatic transmission (ECT-i) that features sequential shift mode and uphill/downhill shift logic.

Off-Road capability mainly depends on the driveline configuration. The Active Traction Control feature is available across the line-up for 2020. The 4×2 Tundra provides 10.4-inches of minimum ground clearance, while 4×4 editions are available with 10.6-inches of clearance.

To improve off-road capability, the TRD Off-Road Package Plus can be added to select trims. This upgrades the wheels to 18-inch five-spoke alloy wheels, P275/65R18 tires, Bilstein® trail-tuned shocks, an engine and fuel tank skid plate, front tow hooks and LED lighting.
