History of The Columbus Museum

The museum was founded in 1953 after the family of Columbus industrialist W.C. Bradley donated his estate. The 13-acre property was given to the city to be a destination for the arts and education. True to its mission, it continues today as a cultural hub for the Columbus community.

The estate is home to the museum, the Transformations Family Gallery, and the Bradley Olmstead Garden. The Columbus Museum is one of the largest history museums in the Southeast. It is unique in that it focuses on both American art and regional history.

There is a permanent collection, as well as temporary exhibits, and educational programs. All designed to showcase Lower Chattahoochee River Valley history.
