A Look into our History

Founded in October of 1997, Group 1 Automotive was birthed through the partnership of owners Bob Howard, Sterling McCall, Kevin Whalen, and Charles Smith, who all came together through partnerships from around the country. From there, Group 1 began to grow, acquiring other automotive groups like Gene Messer Automatov Group, Maxwell Auto Group, Miller Automotive Group, and more. As of 2013, Group 1 Automotive became the third-largest automotive group in the United States and has continued to grow; acquiring groups across the United Kingdom and Brazil to serve customers in major markets around the world.

The Group 1 of Today

Currently, Group 1 Automotive offers 31 different brands of new vehicles in 119 dealerships in the United States, 50 dealerships in the United Kingdom, and 17 in Brazil. We take pride in providing an incredible buying experience that leads our customers to return for all of their service maintenance, and future purchases.
