Introducing the Redesigned 2023 Toyota Sequoia

Toyota released the first Sequoia in the fall of 2000, and the full-size SUV has been a popular choice since its debut. The full-size SUV continues to have three rows of comfortable seating for eight and received a redesign for the 2023 model year. The redesigned Sequoia comes with the comfort and tech features drivers expect from their full-size flagship SUVs. The team at Rivertown Toyota in Columbus, Georgia, can show you what’s new in the 2023 Toyota Sequoia.

Fuel-Efficient Hybrid Performance Features

Toyota offers the 2023 Sequoia in five trims: SR5, Limited, Platinum, Capstone, and TRD Pro. All come with the automaker’s iForce MAX hybrid engine that includes a twin-turbo 3.4-liter V6 paired with an electric motor. They work together to create 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque. The SUV has a 10-speed automatic transmission and standard rear-wheel drive. While all-wheel drive is available on most trims, it is standard on the off-road-ready TRD-Pro that also has a front skid plate, locking rear differential, upgraded dampers, and 18-inch wheels with 33-inch tires.

With the hybrid powertrain, the 2023 Toyota Sequoia gas mileage is an impressive EPA-estimated 21/24 MPG when equipped with rear-wheel drive. Adding all-wheel drive drops the gas mileage to an EPA-estimated 19/22 MPG.

Standard Toyota Safety Sense Driver-Assistive Features

The 2023 Sequoia comes standard with the Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 suite of driver-assistive features. This suite includes features like Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, Full-Speed Range Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, Lane Tracing Assist, Automatic High Beams, and Road Sign Assist.

Additional safety features include the Star Safety System. These active features include Vehicle Stability Control, Traction Control, Anti-Lock Brakes System with Electronic Brake-Force Distribution, and Brake Assist with Smart Stop Technology.

As many drivers use their Sequoia to tow trailers, all trims come with Blind Spot Monitoring with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a Trailer Merge Warning system.

Updated Technology Features

The updated Sequoia comes with new infotainment technology, and Toyota put it in a massive 14.0-inch touchscreen. This feature comes standard starting with the Limited trim, as the SR5 has an 8.0-inch screen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, SiriusXM Satellite Radio, and eight speakers. The 14.0-inch touchscreen on the Limited trim has the same features. Toyota adds 14 JBL speakers with a subwoofer and amplifier starting on the Platinum trim. This same trim also has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Drivers can add several connected services to their Sequoia SUVs. They include Safety Connect with Roadside Assistance and Stolen Vehicle Locator, Wi-Fi Connect, Remote Connect with remote start and vehicle status updates, and Drive Connect with navigation services. All trims also have an auto-dimming rearview mirror with a HomeLink universal garage door opener. Sequoia also has a Panoramic View Monitor and a Smart Key System.

Sequoia also has a 12.3-inch digital gauge monitor with customizable displays. A 10.0-inch Head-Up display is available on the Platinum trim and standard on the Capstone trim. This system shows Sequoia’s speed and provides information about the Hybrid System and navigation details in full color.

Interior and Exterior Styling Details

The 2023 Toyota Sequoia interior features three rows of comfortable seating for eight with a bench as the standard second-row configuration. Switching those seats to optional captain’s chairs reduces the seating to seven. Cloth seats are standard on the SR5 and Toyota puts SofTex trimmed seats in the Limited trim. The Platinum trim comes standard with leather seats, and the automaker equips the TRD-Pro with SofTex accented with camo inserts. Heated front seats are standard on all trims.

Additional interior features include heated and cooled second-row seats on the Platinum trim. The SR5 and Limited trims have a power moonroof, while the Platinum and Capstone have a power panoramic moonroof. When all seats are in place, Sequoia has 12 cubic feet of cargo space.

Depending on the trim, Toyota adds 18-, 20-, or 22-inch wheels. Badging also differs on all trims. Sequoia does have heated exterior side mirrors, LED headlights and tail lights, and an available LED Trailer Reverse Assist light.
