2020 Toyota Avalon TRD Debut

Toyota Racing Development Debuts a New Avalon

The all-new 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD represents a new project for the Toyota Racing Development team. They traditionally work with SUVs and off-road pickups, but this is their 40th anniversary, and they have a nice mix of cars with excellent off-road features.

For the 2020 Avalon TRD, this new badge is more than an appearance upgrade.

You can test-drive the exciting new 2020 Avalon TRD at our Toyota dealer in Columbus, GA.

Engineers Started with the Avalon Touring Model

The TRD has a lot in common with the Avalon Touring model. Engineers replaced the electronic adaptive suspension with steel springs and shocks. They lowered the vehicle just 0.6 inches and replaced its wheels with a lighter and wider version.

The 2020 Avalon TRD has new bump stops, dual-piston front brake calipers, a stiffer underbody bracing system and an electronic brake-based front differential.

The TRD has a 3.6-liter V6 engine, which generates 301 horsepower and 267lb-ft of torque. Plus, it’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission to create smooth and quick shifts.

Engineers working on the 2020 Avalon TRD and Camry TRD used Arizona Motorsports Park, Toyota’s Arizona proving track and Motorsport Ranch during the development phase of vehicle creation. Their goal was to make a car that could easily compete with the Audi A6, Kia Stinger GT and Ford Fusion Sport.

Incredible Safety Features

The 2020 Avalon is fun to drive but also packed with many of Toyota’s best safety features. You’ll get the Star Safety System with enhanced vehicle stability control, traction control, brake assist and smart stop technology.

With the included three-year trial subscription to Safety Connect, you’ll get automatic collision notification, stolen vehicle locator, roadside assistance, and emergency assistance. The Toyota Safety Sense package, which is standard on every 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD, includes a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, automatic high beams, lane departure alert with steering assist and full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control.

Upscale Features

With the 2020 Toyota Avalon TRD, you’ll get 19-inch TRD matte-black alloy wheels and TRD cat-back dual exhaust complete with polished steel tips. Front and rear calipers painted red combined with 12.9-inch front disc brakes make a lasting impression.

Ultrasuede heated front seats with red stitching and fabric inserts make the cabin feel truly special. The TRD comes standard with a moonroof, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents, Qi-compatible wireless smartphone charging, seven-inch multi-information display, smart key system with push-button start and four USB charging ports.

Available options include sport sound-tuned exhaust and premium audio with a 14-speaker JBL® sound system that includes Dynamic Navigation.
